(Los Angeles, CA) The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the largest school district in California and second largest in the nation, has selected SectorPoint, Inc. to provide software and programming services to implement a reservation management system (RMS) to allow LAUSD to manage school facility use permits.
The reservation management system, to be created from SectorPoint’s Civic Permits software program, will allow non-LAUSD organizations to utilize space at LAUSD school facilities provided that the usage is within certain guidelines and the organization meets stated requirements. Civic Permits will provide LAUSD with a completely web-based solution that automates the application, submittal, and approval process for the use of school facilities followed by collection of payment and disbursement of funds back to the individual school locations.
SectorPoint President & CEO, Jon Cornelison stated that “In 2009 — 2010, LAUSD issued 3,262 permits for 39,832 meetings at school facilities district-wide. The district received $2,110,884 in fees for these permits. Our Civic Permits software will allow the District to increase these numbers across the board as the entire business process will be web-based and automated with e-commerce. This is the way school districts need to do business in 2011 and beyond. In addition to decreased operational costs and increases in revenue, our software will provide a great service to groups in need of school facilities in the vast communities served by the LAUSD.”
California Education Code provides for public school districts to grant the use of school buildings or grounds for approved uses to citizens and community groups.
SectorPoint was awarded the contract with LAUSD as a result of a formal RFP process. The Mt. Diablo Unified School District in Concord, CA was the first to implement SectorPoint’s Civic Permits software.
